Avengers: Thor Versus Iron Man and Cap takes a hit (*Spoiler Alert)

It seems almost like Marvel are nervous. Gotta wonder whether the lacklustre coverage of John Carpenter (seen it now – it’s not that great) has the all watching Disney ordering teasers galore. So here are two – both a little bit of a shame as they’d be great just to watch as part of a film but hey – I’m an adult – I can take it. If however, you don’t want to see details of the upcoming Avengers movie look away before you watch the video directly above this warning. D’oh.

Here’s a worrying spoiler. Captain America takes a hit to the stomach from a dead thing’s laser. Can’t help but feel that might go nasty.

Avengers: Black Widow kicks Ass as Whedon goes back to Buffy!

On the 11th April 2012 Marvel Entertainment release the Avengers in selected US cinemas. As such – we can expect a dearth of Avengers material released on the web – most likely replaced with reviews and fan material. Released a couple of days ago Scarlet Johansen is the first Avenger to be showcased in her own solo promo – if you don’t count Iron Man I and II, Agent Coulson’s one-shots and the first parts of the Thor and Captain America franchises. Where’s the Hawkeye and Maria Hill promo?

Regardless; Black Widow proves that ladies can kick some ass. In the hands of director Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Serenity (Firefly) which both centre on mistresses of the Kung Pow this was always likely!!

Japanese Trailers for our favourite Movies – Avengers

Pretty much all of this footage has long since been seen as a TV Spot and various previews but this is what the Japanese got months ago as a standard trailer for the Avengers movie. Leaning a little more heavily on the tech – with some lingering shots of the Shield carrier doing it’s thing the whole thing starts with a revealing look at the invaders coming out of a wibbly wormhole. Not much more of a fanfare was really needed for Avengers in the west but Marvel and Disney can expect some smaller, yellower bums on seats in the Far East based on this promo. Interesting to see if there’s another before Japan’s release in a few month’s time. Sorry about the description of possible appearance of bums in Japan. I’ve never seen a Japanese ass. Sorry again.

Little Avengers Are Pretty Cute

It’s always cute when parents force their children into stupid costumes but it’s also cute (in a less abusive way) when the kids do so of their own free will. Well, thanks to American store Target, now your kids can cosplay the hell out of you wherever you go.

I’m pretty sure there’s no way the costumes are actually as cool as they look in this advert (otherwise why would any kid not want to be Iron Man all the time?) but they’re still pretty awesome and if you were ever – you know – a kid, I think the advert will put a smile on your face.

Now they just need to release some Young Avengers baby grows.

P.S. There’s no Black Widow costume. I guess Cap thinks girls are stinky or something. He’s from a different era after all.

Quick Head Count: Avengers TV Spot

TV Spot – presumably in the US – with new, unseen footage of the not-so-jolly green giant in action. This bit offers up only a little more detail on what is a pretty exciting trailer except for showing quite a formidable squad of seemingly undead alien beasties bounding around New York. Of course, it makes it obviosu just as quickly that one will last three seconds against the Hulk but what do you expect – that the Avengers won’t win? Saying that – it’s Whedon – so I would assume nothing.

Avengers Assemble Trailer

If you’ve not seen it yet then sit down and prepare to freak out. Marvel dropped the best trailer yet for the upcoming Avengers Assemble movie. There’s a tonne of stuff in here that will be familiar to anyone who’s read Mark Millar & Bryan Hitch’s run on The Ultimates (you could almost say the two of them planned it this way all along), but that is far from a bad thing.

Seriously, this is a very cool trailer.

Avengers Assemble is out this May.

Avengers Assemble: Avengers Lego

Hot on the heels of the reveal of Lord of the Rings Lego sets, Lego has followed up with a star-spangled doozy. The Avengers are here and they’re up for a fight!! We know there’s gonna be some extra sets coming out when the movie makes it to our screens in the cinema.

‘Nuff chat. Here’s the rest of the first batch for you to take a look. At the bottom of the page remind yourself of your age and then remind yourself that that means you can afford it.

Although here’s a mod done by some guy on the internet. Some people’s near futile creativity know’s no bounds. Pointless creativity High Five!!

Avengers Superbowl Trailer

The Superbowl has long been the forum for débuting  new adverts and movie trailers and this year was no exception. With the Avengers film just a few months away, Marvel hit the screens with a brand new trailer offering more plot hints, more footage and much more Hulk.

It’s looking more and more like the the film will draw extensively upon Mark Millar & Bryan Hitch’s run on The Ultimates, but that’s not exactly a bad thing.

Avengers comes out this May.

Assemble! Avengers Trailer Is Here!

Alright, you can stop checking the internet every day, the Official Trailer for Avengers is finally here. For all their faults there are still no other movies that make me cheer during trailers in the way that Marvel movies do. What can we infer from the trailer? Loki is a badass, Thor has a new outfit and Robert Downey Jr should be in every film.

Avengers is released in 2012.

Robert Downey Jr Hits Scarlett Johansson on Avengers Set

I don’t normally post news stories like this, but this is too much of a giggle not to bring up. According to sources on the Avengers set Robert Downey Jr accidentally punched Scarlett Johansson in the face last week because he “pressed the wrong button” on his Iron Man suit.

Downey Jr was waiting to film a scene for the movie and decided to have a fiddle with some of the buttons on his suit, it turns out that his wandering fingers landed on the switch that controls his arm, causing it to swing round and catch his co-star in the face, knocking her off the stage. Fortunately Johansson was not badly hurt and was apparently able to laugh off the incident.

According to the source Downey Jr was apparently somewhat sheepish about the incident: “Robert, who couldn”t help because he literally can”t move in that iron suit, was beside himself – he kept apologizing and saying, Oh, my God, I”m so sorry!”

Avengers is out next year.
