The fifth Demoncon convention takes place in Maidstone on 17th March and as has become tradition some of the UK’s best indy comic artists have gotten together to produce bespoke posters. This year however the posters feature somebody that fans of the bunker may be a little familiar with.
The first is this amazing bit of work from Grant Perkins with Inks by Tom Schloendorn and colours by Nadine Ashworth. There is no way I’m not buying one of these when I get to the con, it’s an amazing bit of work. Grant is taking commissions at the moment so get hold of him on twitter if you want a fine piece like this in your home.
The second poster comes courtesy of Phil Buckenham and is all the more amazing for the fact that he did pencils, inks and colours by himself. It’s another great bit of art and Moon seems very happy with the company he’s in. Just look at his beaming face.
The real question is, of course, how many of the characters in both posters can you name?
Conor Boyle (Pencil_monkey) posted up this beautiful portrait of our hero, Moon the other day. It’s magnificent and disturbingly prescient of a scene in Moon 2. He’s even got the same gun as he has in the book. This isn’t surprising as Conor is a great artist and we’d advise you take a look at his work on yfrog.com. So this is the first piece of Moon artwork completed outside of a convention. We’d like to think this’ll inspire others to do the same because we love to see it. If anyone fancies doing a sketch of Moon we’ll post up and plug you up!!
Hope this is the first of more. Thanks to Conor Boyle.
One of the things that really amazed us about Moon is how much people love doing their own doodles of him. Almost no convention goes by without some exhibitor or other handing us a sketch of ol globehead and over time we’ve amassed a small but wonderful collection of them. Since we’re having a little summer break from conventions we thought it was high time to share a few of our favourites from the last few months.
Sketch given to us at Kapow! Comic con in April. To my shame, I can't remember who it was that drew it, but I love the scruffy look of the shirt.
A somewhat vintage looking sketch from the stunningly talented Nusha Amini
Matt from Moo & Keo was drawing superhero themed lion cubs at LFCC and decided to add Moon to the lineup
This one's actually by Steve, just to prove that he does do convention sketches from time to time.
We’ll try to throw up another collection of fan art later in the year. If you have a pic of Moon that you’d like to share, send it to us at email@example.com and we’ll do our best to post it up!
