As many of you know, Steve and I have a couple of new books coming out in November. “Tales of the Fallen” is a set of four one-shot comics based on the Unseen Shadows series of books by Barry Nugent. To celebrate the upcoming release of the comics, we’re going to be previewing one of them each week in October. If you want to be one of the only people in the world to pick up signed copies of Tales of the Fallen you’ll need to buy a ticket to theThought Bubble convention in Leeds so you can be there for the grand launch. Enjoy the previews:
Wrath of God
Cy Dethan (Writer), Steve Penfold (Artist) Gat Melvin (Colours), Nic Wilkinson (Lettering)
The Reverend: a holy weapon forged in tragedy and flame – a murderous martyr whose cold judgement strikes with the force of a vengeful God. Despair, for the Reverend walks among you. He is the right hand of vengeance. He is Wrath.
For more information check out Unseen Shadows on the WEB, on FACEBOOK and on TWITTER
As previews are now readily available on http://www.unseenshadows.com we can post them up here for viewing by the assembled Bunkerites. We should be in that nice little tunnel on the run up to the project going to print for us to post up something every week so watch this space.
Fallen Heroes 2 will be available at Thought Bubble for anyone who’s going. See you there.
As you’ll no doubt already know Fallen Heroes is the name of Martin Conaghan and Steve Penfold’s comic book adaptation of Barry Nugent’s hit novel. Well with the official release date just a week away, I thought it would be nice to have a look at what the reviewers have been saying about the book. Turns out, they freakin love it. Here’s just a small selection of some of the reviews:
Hi-Ex! Blog – “I have to say that conveying action scenes in a dynamic and kinetic way is a very difficult thing, but Penfold manages to do so here with no trouble at all….I cannot imagine anyone reading this and not wanting to pick up the next one”
SciFi Pulse – “It’s a roller coaster ride that includes skeletons, Mission Impossible-like stunts, a mysterious data disc and teeth-rattling explosions.”
Small Press Big Mouth – ‘very atmospheric and cinematic’ – the podcast review kicks off around the fourteen minute mark.
Geeky Girls Love Sci Fi – “bright and visceral, smacking us right between the eyes”
GeekPlanetOnline – ‘solid début issue that should leave you wanting more ‘
It’s an awesome first showing for the book and a thoroughly well deserved round of praise for Steve and the rest of the team. I’d normally give you a link to the preorder page here, but I’m afraid that they sold out last week. You shall just have to wait until the book is released at Cardiff International Comic Expo next weekend.
Bag me a copy while you’re at it, will you?
Exciting stuff! More than one title will carry the Beyond the Bunker logo. I (Steve P) am currently working on Fallen Heroes along with Martin Conaghan (writer/adaptor) and Gat Melvin (colourist) – adapted from Fallen Heroes – the novel by Barry Nugent (the powerhouse behind the whole thing).
We will of course have copies of Fallen Heroes on our table at conventions though it’ll be Moon we’re pushing.
Details on Fallen Heroes’ll be forthcoming and get more and more detailed and regular as we get closer to the release date so it’ll be a couple of weeks before the next so check back here regularly.
