We here at Beyond want your perusing experience to be an easy one. With that in mind we’re developing up some more banners for you to punch as soon as you’ve figured out what you like best. They’ll be appearing here and there – mostly Moon stuff to highlight events regarding ol’ chalk face. These are testers. Let us know what you think.
We here at Moon Towers don’t like to let things lie. And following a truly awful day at Bristol Comic Con (no one’s fault but our own perhaps) we’re cheering ourselves up. With the next edition of Moon 1 going to the presses in time for MCM in two weeks we thought it might be time for a pep up. It won’t simply be limited to the cover either. We’ll be looking at ways to include the events and the ride that Moon has taken up until this point to fill out the surrounding pages. Oh yeah, no short changing with the BTB boys. It’s only the most up to date hot shit when you buy it through us. Keep y’all posted.
Moon 2 and Fallen Heroes 2 is also underway. I also read the one-shot Band of Butchers script by our very own Dan Thompson. Expect heavy artillery and one liners (and unexpected dose of the dark). It’s awesome.
Fallen Heroes and Beyond the Bunker, Copydesk and Geek Syndicate rocked the Cardiff International Comics Expo twice yesterday in an astonishing feat of consumer excitement generated no doubt by Mr Barry Nugent, Geek Syndicate and http://www.fallenheroescomic.com. After a last minute dash to prepare for the opening the doors opened on the event at 10:00am. By 11 all copies had been sold. We found 10 more earmarked for sale to Martin Conaghan later in the day which then sold within 10 minutes. On top of which it was the first chance to meet Barry Nugent and hold a copy of Fallen Heroes in my hand. Gat Melvyn’s colours were the toast of the convention which is no surprise at all.
Fallen Heroes it would appear has very much arrived on the map and I’d like to thank everyone I met over the weekend for making it a kick ass experience. Next time we’ll make sure we bring more copies….! Full news and info on the events and experiences of Cardiff International Comic Expo will be here over the next few days (with pictures) including the panel and setting a Dalek on someone.
More will be made available soon for order and the Ipad/Ipod version will be available from tomorrow. Further details to follow.
The first book to carry a Beyond the Bunker logo is now complete. Sent yesterday as a PDF to Ukomics, Fallen Heroes is the adaptation of Barry Nugent’s novel of the same name, adapted for release as a comic by Martin Conaghan, Drawn by myself (Steve Penfold) and completed by the very able Gat Melvyn on colours and Paul McLaren who stepped in at the last minute to complete the lettering.
The first part in a five part story arc (the first of 3 arcs culminating in 3 graphic novels in the distant future) it follows the stories of Ben ‘The Hand’ Ashodi, Jason Chen and Napoleon Stone among others through a world populated by heavily armed mercenaries, monsters and mysterious unseen forces. Who are the ‘Fallen Heroes’ named in the title? Read on to find out.
The first edition includes pin up artwork by Andy Tong (DC Comics, Marvel, Darkhorse, Mirage Studios, Image and Markosia Comics), Leigh Gallagher (DC Comics and 2000AD) and Emma Viecceli (Self Made Hero, Marvel, Image, Random House, Tokyopop and Future Publishing) as well as 21 pages of espionage, intrigue and supernatural visitations. Enjoy!!
And in case that wasn’t enough to whet your appetite here is the Launch Trailer – for Issue 1 completed by Dennis Morrison of Zizzl Films. (Massive thanks for the amazing job done on that! Again, Enjoy!!
