Moon 1, Page 2 Linework

I’m back and I’m ready to get some high end work done. Trying hard to complete everything I can as quickly as I can (without affecting the quality). Currently working on the draft work and concept designs for all three titles; Moon 2, FH 2 and a neat little one-shot to be announced later on this week. I’m also developing a couple of scripts at present (egads! He’s going to try and write something) so keep an eye on that to see how I do…. ;-). That’s right – I did a smiley. Whatever man.

… and just to pep you up. Here’s the colour first panel from page 1 too. Just to remind you what the finished article looks like….

Okay. I get it. You’re getting bored of seeing replays of the existing book. Well, hopefully next week there’ll be something very new to see here….

Why Buy Moon?

Moon 1 is now available to buy from this site (click here). It is the first part of many more Moons to come. Your copy will be individually numbered and marked as a first edition pushing the value of the book up should great things take place in Moon’s future. It’s the first book from Beyond the Bunker; of which there are already more in the pipe line. Its the first published work for Dan Thompson and Steve Penfold (excluding Steve’s Fallen Heroes work (ahem)). Its the summation of 2 years hard graft. You would be supporting the British comic industry – something both myself and Dan are very proud of – though we do accept cheques in dollars – and kick starting a newby independent comics company that hopes to represent the sharp end of indy (and small press) comic books. Its high quality (printed by our mates at UKomics) and its kick ass wicked. Those are the reasons I can think of for buying Moon 1.

Aside from all that – its the tale of the Moon arriving on earth to defend the British isles, but discovering, due to a botched, drunken Celtic ceremony that he is cursed to walk the earth with a Moon for a head. Working his way up through history without eating, drinking, talking or emoting facially Moon now walks the streets of 21st Century facing threats the usual constabulary are ill-equipped to deal with! At night he returns to his place in the sky – defying laws of physics and basic astronomy before returning back in the morning to tackle the amassing hordes of weird. A comedy, a buddy cop tale, a gripping insight into what the Moon does when he’s not in the sky. Don’t look to the sky, look to the streets. Its Moon!!
… and if that weren’t enough check out the pages in preview here on Monday…

Moon Launch T-Minus 5

Okay – with 5 more days to go and thought we’d try out a new flyer/poster for the Moon/Beyond the Bunker launch. In 4 days time the Square Pig in Holborn will be lit up and ignited with the launch of Beyond the Bunker’s flagship title; Moon! As you already know the first review is in from Goodcomics.com and frankly we’re proud to say the response is excellent.

To grab your copy head over to the Square Pig, right next to Holborn Station on Saturday and pay £5 at the door or sign up for guest list at Paypal ensuring you a reserve signed copy and definite entry. We have added an extra act to the proceedings as well with the inimitable Skyskratcher who are helping us rig up too.

Add Skyskratcher to the already massive line-up of the comedy music duo Cold Callers and the Damn Jammage as well as musical and comedy interludes from friend to the Bunker, general global influence and Panda lover Paul Sweeney running the evening as well as a signed and numbered copy of Moon and we are offering you a massive night for a mere £5 entry.

It’s been a long road to get to this point and we have to thank everyone that has got us to this stage – namely Ivanna Matilla, Benjamin Morgan, Paul Wade, Stuart Gould (UKomics) as well as all the bands and folks who have offered their help in putting this all together and all those who’ve shown interest in all this so far – Joe Innes for his amazing review – Sas Stewart for finding us a sound engineer and Jude Benjamin from Skyskratcher for stepping in at short notice. Finally, BTH Architects for funding the first run of books, our parents and long suffering fiancees – and your good selves. Where the fuck would we be without you….?

So see you on Saturday night after 6. Turn up equipped with Ha ha bones, dancing boots and telescopes. More details on the event over the next few days….
