Space Stallions

Sunday is rapidly turning into “stupid stuff we can’t categorise” day but I’m not sure that’s entirely a bad thing. The Animation Workshop created this intro for a fake horse-based-space-adventure-show and it would be criminal not to share it here. If you were a fan of 80s cartoons, this should bring the memories flooding back.

I want a sword that turns into a keytar.

Walk Off The Earth One Guitar Parody

If you spend any time on the internet then you’re probably already familiar with the wonderful video in which Walk Off The Earth cover Gotye and Kimbra’s “Somebody That I used to know” using just one guitar. If you’re not then here it is, it’s awesome and you’ll need to be familiar with it in order to die laughing at what’s coming next:

Ok, so that was great. Now, as is the way all virals, it was only a matter of time until somebody produced a parody and fortunately for us in this case the lampoon has come from musical comedy heavyweights, The Key of Awesome. I have honestly not laughed so hard in a long time (though it should be said that I do really like the original song so I may be a little biased).

Anyway, watch, enjoy and check out some more of Key of Awesome’s work.

Skyrim 2012

In all honesty, I thought I was done posting Skyrim parodies. We’ve showcased a fair few of them over the past few months and I was getting to the point where I thought all the jokes had been done. Then I had the pleasure of stumbling upon The Grosjean Brother’s new webseries about two douchebags trying to get by in the land of the Nords, 2000 years after the events of the game. People have done first person game parodies before but few are as well observed and executed as this. The shopkeeper alone is worth the price of admission.

You can watch Episode 2 here and be sure to look out for more episodes from the boys later in the year.

Literal MS Paint Music Video is as Stupid as it is Wonderful

A week ago I had never even heard of daftly named, generic pop warblers, LMFAO. Now I find myself having posted two of their songs in just one week. I’m not sure what it is about their music that makes it so appealing to ingenious video makers with too much time on their hands, but it’s getting to a point that we might as well declare it an art movement in and of itself.

This time it’s the clever chaps at Literal MS Paint to step up with this hilarious video for the band’s (are they a band?) seminal masterpiece “Party Rock Anthem.”

I fear the 90s are back.

(I was going to post another Evergreen today but I’m worried about it becoming a “thing” so I’m gonna hold off for the good of everyone)

He-Man is Sexy (And he Knows it)

What better way to celebrate today’s anti-SOPA blackout than by sharing a video that would, in all likelihood, be illegal should the bill pass. He-Man is pretty buff, he knows it and he damn well wants to make sure that you know it too.  JesseWolf‘s video defiantly falls into the sillier end of the spectrum but for the teddy bear alone, it’s worth a watch.

We’re not doing a SOPA blackout today, partly because we’re a primarily UK based site and it wouldn’t have any real impact but mostly because I don’t have the technical know-how to actually implement it. If you’d like to find out more about SOPA and the damage it could do to sites like ours, click here.

His Name is James Bond

Very much not safe for work but very very funny. Turns out that on reflection James Bond is a complete tool and so Youtuber Running Corners decided to make a song celebrating this. It has a definite Adam & Joe vibe to it, albeit with a lot more swearing.

Perhaps not surprisingly, this came to my attention via the twisted and brilliant Rob Carey. He has some new art on his blog and you should go look at it.

Home Made Avengers Trailer

Not content with just watching the amazing Avengers Trailer youtube film makers Dumb Drum decided to make their own version. What it lacks in polish it more than makes up for in hilarious Thor lines.

Enjoy!

(I have some interesting news RE Moon digital edition and Oxicomics coming up but I probably won’t get time to talk about it here until after MCM this weekend. If I get a chance I’ll put some details up on Twitter)

Farewell to Steve Jobs…With Rap!

Given that our company is, like so many others, powered by Apple products (specifically 2 iPhones, Steve’s behemoth of a Mac and a post about iPads which generates far more hits than the amount of research I put into it probably deserves) I kinda feel like we should have at least acknowledged  the departure of Steve Jobs from the company. If you think of the rise of digital comics as being something tied directly to the rise of the iphone and ipad (which I do) then it becomes hard to overstate just how much influence he’s had on our industry.

Fortunately comedy rap group Pantless Knights have chosen to honour him in the only way that seems appropriate, they’ve re-recorded Jay-Z’s What More Can I Say as a tribute to the man himself. It’s as good a parody song as you’re going to hear and a touching send off for the man who left us all standing on the tube, screaming at some fictional birds because they can’t take down some obnoxious pigs.

Godspeed Steve!

Wish I Had A Portal Gun – Aperture Science Rap

I’m away on my honeymoon right now but in order to not shirk my Bunkerly duties, I’ve queued up 10 awesome vids for you dear people. Enjoy!

College Humour have been pretty aggressive at taking down versions of this track on youtube, so hopefully the embed still works by the time you get this. Anyone who’s played Valve’s puzzle-opus will know that once you’ve thought with portals, you can never go back. In this track comedy geek site Dorkly have managed to express the desires of anyone who’s ever wanted to be ‘over there’ without the tiresome need for walking.

Just a warning though, the language is a little creative so it’s perhaps not one for the kids.
