Moon’s Song of the Week: Gangnam Style by PSY

This track is pretty much a global mega-hit by now but the UK has been unusually slow to catch on so I thought I’d throw it up. It has over 200 million views on youtube and it’s only been out a month or so. How is that possible? Because it’s Korean of course.

South Korean rapper, PSY has been turning out insane yet wonderful tracks for over ten years and Gangnam Style currently holds the record for the most viewed K-Pop track on youtube. Who knew.

Oh and while you’re here, check out the Gandalf version by Screen Team.

Moon’s Song of the Week – Tomorrow by Niki & the Dove

Scandinavian electro pop act, Niki & The Dove’s debut album officially came out this week and that means with national newspapers rushing to review it, the small window during which I can pretend they are this cool little band nobody else knows about is rapidly closing. As much as I’ve enjoyed my brief little holiday as a hipster, the band thoroughly deserve the meteoric rise that doubtless now lies before them so here’s one more track of theirs to see them on their way.

Tomorrow is another collection of quirky beats and soaring vocals that offers shades of Florence Welch and Kate Bush while still retaining the band’s own style.

Moon’s Song Of The Week: Someone Else’s Road by Fred’s House

This week’s pick comes courtesy of the lovely Fred’s House. Fred’s House are a folk-pop foresome from Cambridge who play amazing, harmony infused pop that falls somewhere between Simon & Garfunkle and The Magic Numbers. Someone Else’s Road is their first full music video and is very silly in all the right ways.

The main reason for posting the band up is that they’re fantastic but the main reason for posting them up today is that they are launching their second EP “Looking Glass” at Proud Camden in London this Sunday. If you fancy spending an afternoon having a beer and listening to some chilled out music then pop along at 4pm to join the fun.

Oh, and you can download looking glass for free HERE and stream their other tracks, including some of the new ones, HERE.
