Dan talks comics with Lazy as Funk

I think it’s fair to say that MCM was pretty insane. We have honestly never been busier than we were over those three crazy days and it was great to be able to introduce so many new people to Moon.

Amidst the selling though we did get a chance to chat with some lovely people and among them was the wonderfully named “Lazy and Funk” youtube channel. Have a look and enjoy me talking about MCM while Steve hovers like I’m about to rat him out for a murder. Stick around to the very end to get an insight into just how much I love the newly re-printed Moons.

We’ll be posting up some more stories and pictures from MCM over the coming weeks so keep checking back. Thanks again to everyone who came to say hi!

Moon’s Song of the Week: Mitt Romney’s Concession Song by The Gregory Brothers

I very rarely post comedy songs in this slot but this was so well done that I thought I’d make an exception (that and I can’t remember the name of the C2c song that I wanted to post so that will have to wait til next week).

The Gregory Brothers are the creators of many a fine video in which they brighten up regular news with ridiculous songs. This time they’re having a crack at explaining why Mitt Romney is just fine with losing this week’s election.

Dropping Science: The Greatest Lego Machine

I received some of Lego’s robot building kit for Christmas last year and succeeded in building a little car that drove forwards, turned left and then got stuck under the coffee table. Japanese robot fan Akiyuki has gone one better than that (and then one better again and then about a million better on top of that) by constructing a lego machine that gives small toy balls the kind of epic journey usually reserved for Greek mythological heroes. It’s kind of a Rube Goldberg machine except it’s entirely self sustaining and so doesn’t require any components to be manually reset.

It’s an incredible feat of pointless yet wonderful engineering and I absolutely love it.

The Lady In The Grove – A Ghost Story

Jim Eaton and I are heading off to Reading in a couple of days to shoot our latest short. It’s a ghost story spoof about…well I won’t spoil it but it’ll probably be fairly silly. The film’s been written for this year’s 2 Days Later competition and will be (including competition’s comedic sister 2 Days Laughter) our 8th film for the festival!

It’s been fun working on a ghost story as they’re a particular passion of Jim’s and he has a far better eye than me for them. To help prove that I thought I’d throw up a ghost story that Jim did with Griff Jameson a few years back. It’s a “proper” ghost story rather than one infused with silliness and it’s very good. If you’re a fan of the old M. R. James TV adaptations from the 70s then you’ll dig this.

Enjoy!

Moon’s Song of the Week: The Fight by Krispy Kreme

My buddy Josh (who you’ll remember from all of our more recent films) has been trying to get me to check out Krispy Kreme for weeks now. I finally got around to it and am now set to loose a lot of time catching up on his hilarious back catalogue. Krispy Kreme is a rapper and youtube star who produces low budget videos on a regular basis. They are very funny and surprisingly well written, plus how can you not love a guy who dresses like John Cena just because he wants to.

If Batman Were Voiced by the Cookie Monster

I swear something has broken in my brain as of late. First the cat singing Game of Thrones has me laughing like a child and now this. Turns out that if you take Christian Bale’s bonkers Bat-voice out of the movies and replace it with the only-slightly-less-bonkers Cookiee Monster voice, the result is something so stupid it deserves a nobel prize.

Wonderful.

Good Morning. Here’s a Cat Singing the Game of Thrones Theme

This is a cat called Arya. Arya loves Game of Thrones just a little bit less that her owner loves faffing about with autotune. If you’ve been pining for the show since the end of season 2 earlier this year then this…will not help in the slightest. But you probably won’t be able to stop watching, regardless.

Thanks internet.

Dropping Science: The Science of Spider-man

Spidy fans are enjoying the brief window of press time for their favourite wall crawler before everything goes a bit Gotham and science is never one to miss out on a good party. In their latest video ASAP Science are looking at the actual science behind Peter Parker’s crazy powers.

Amazing stuff.

Henri, Le Chat Noir

It’s been a while since I shared something really silly and yet utterly brilliant so allow me to break that dry spell with this. Henri, Le Chat Noir is an online meta-series about the existential misery of a depressed French cat. I’ve seen the French cinema parody done many times but few as deftly as this little gem.

If you enjoyed the despair that was 3eanuts then I think you’ll get a kick out of Henri.

Bon.
